Wanna buy a bridge?
Every so often we get an email from someone who wants to promote their product or company. They want someone at DemonFactory to take a look and give it our DF review. Many don’t even get a mention. While some are great and deserve credit. We thought this would be a great one.
This time we get a call from Stephan Tobbler who’s out of Northern California. He owns FearMongor Surfboards. “A Technology Driven Surfboard Design Company” is how he explains it. He reveals that it is 20% lighter than any other board currently on the market. He also admits that it is stronger than any other board that has ever been produced. However, the interview takes some nasty turns.
DemonFactory (DF): Hey Stephan, we got your email and wanted to contact you regarding FearMongor. I hope this is a good time.
Stephan Tobbler(ST): Yeah, thanks for calling. We’re pretty excited about FearMongor.
(DF): That’s cool man. When did you guys start FearMongor. What did you do before that.
(ST): We opened the shop this past October. I worked in the IT arena before.
(DF): IT? Really? Surfing must be a big passion of yours then to start your own board company?
(ST): (Laughs) Nope. I really shouldn’t tell you this but I’ve never surfed a day in my life. Hell, I can’t stand the beach. The sand and all of the crap… It’s a waste of time and unproductive.
(DF): What?!?! You’re kidding me. The ocean is one of the most beautiful things we have. A natural resource that….
(ST): Hey, whatever. I could give two shits about that stuff. It’s a business for me and my family. It’s all about the dollar. Putting food on the table. If I can come up with a ‘better mousetrap’ or at least the image that it’s better, then I’m all for it. Any thing that will extort the greenbacks from the hands of those young surfers, then I’m happy.
(DF): So basically, your whole ‘innovative’ design and all of that is bullshit???
(ST): Yup. Completely.
(DF): All about money? WTF?!?! Seriously man… There is a hell of a lot more important things in life than the ‘greenbacks’ that you are working people over for. More important things than taking advantage of people’s honest desire for something real. I’d rather be dead broke and happy instead of wealthy and a dirty soul man. It’s people like you who make it hard for the honest man to get anywhere. You’re the type of fuckwit who gives me a headache. You seriously need an ass whipping man.
(ST): Hey, relax my friend. We would like to talk to you guys about buying some advertising space on the site. We’ve checked the stats and acknowledge the site’s growth and would like to do something with you.
(DF): Really? That’s great to hear brother. Well, how about this proposal…. Kiss my ass! (click)
For once it’s nice to be the one that does the hanging up instead of being hung-up on!
